Laura Emery attained her Master degree in Sociology at the University of Antwerp (UA). After that she worked for the Policy Research Centre on Equal Opportunities at UA. In 2015 she started as academic assistant and PhD student at VUB. She teaches a course in methodology and assists in a course on qualitative research methods. Her doctoral research is on the school trajectories of non-Dutch speaking newcomers in secondary education.
