Culture is widely integrated in daily life: when people read the newspaper, listen to music or buy new clothes, but also when they vote for political parties, express feelings of happiness or share their general opinions on life events. Therefore culture is a major point of interest for Research Group TOR.
In sociological research on culture one can make a distinction between sociology of culture on the one hand and cultural sociology on the other.
